Join renowned textiles researcher Tina Bean for her fascinating talk, as she unravels the captivating story of how the textiles industry shaped life in Sydney from the First Fleet to the Victorian era. Through rare photographic evidence and vivid historical insights, Tina will explore the profound influence of fashion on society - and society on fashion. Discover how the early Colonial clothing industry grew and evolved, leaving a lasting impact on the people and culture of the time. Don’t miss this journey into the threads of history!

About Tina Bean

Tina is a high school teacher whose background is in science, engineering, textiles and computing. She has a long-standing interest in textiles and family history, and has a Diploma in Family History from the University of Tasmania. Tina is a member of a number of guilds and social groups which explore textiles and clothing as well as other aspects of life in the past and present.

The venue is Gordon Library Meeting Room No. 1, in the Old Gordon Public School, which adjoins the Gordon Library, 799 Pacific Highway, Gordon (corner Pacific Highway and Park Avenue).
